Tenebrae. Latin for "shadows" or "darkness". The Tenebrae was/is, a Christian religious ceremony, celebrated in the holy week preceeding Easter. This music captures perfectly the mystery, solemnity, and drama, of the ceremony, and the events it represents.*
This two long track album is another mesmerizing musical study by Maximum Movement Theatre! Truly brilliant, it is a wonderfully immersive ambient journey. You completely lose yourself to the music, one of my favorite pastimes. I enjoyed this album, immensely! As I know you will.

*The Tenebrae Hearse is a Christian religious service still celebrated in some churches during the Holy Week, on the evening before or early morning of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Tenebrae is distinctive for its gradual extinguishing of candles while a series of readings and psalms are chanted or recited. The ceremony ends in darkness and with noise making or stomping of the parishioners, to commemorate the three-hour darkness and the earthquake after the death of Christ.
The last candle is taken back to the Altar to symbolize Christs' triumph over death by dying (in anticipation of Easter) and the whole congregation keeps silence and pays homage to the Conqueror of sin and death.
